Phenomenological in physics

Fun statement (Sprott, 2003):  "The term phenomenological' is used in physics to describe an equation chosen to illustrate a phenomenon without regard to its accuracy or derivation."

Entrainment note

Note about entrainment:  In a driven harmonic oscillator with commensurate frequencies (ratio is rational), then the trajectory closes on itself and the period is equal to the smallest common multiple of the two periods:  phase locking, synchronization, entrainment!
